Privacy Policy

Your collection never leaves home.

Rimeo is built local-first. Your audio files and music library stay on your own computer — we never upload, copy, or sell them. This policy explains exactly what we access, what we store, and what we deliberately don't.

The short version

Your music library and audio files stay on your own computer. Rimeo's cloud only handles your account, sign-in, and the secure link between your devices. We don't sell your data, we don't run advertising or tracking SDKs in the app, and you can delete everything at any time.

Rimeo is a personal music player for DJs. A small agent runs on the computer that holds your Rekordbox library and streams tracks on demand to the Rimeo iOS app and web player — either over your local network, or through a secure private tunnel when you're away from home. Because playback is served directly from your own machine, your collection is never mirrored to our servers.

Data we access

To do its job, Rimeo accesses the following — and only while you're using it:

  • Local network: to discover and connect to the Rimeo agent running on your computer when you're on the same Wi-Fi.
  • Camera: used solely to scan the pairing QR code when you link a computer. Nothing from the camera is stored, uploaded, or used for anything else.
  • Music library metadata: track titles, artists, albums, BPM, musical key, genre, artwork, waveforms, and playlist structure — read from your library on your own machine and streamed to your devices. This metadata never passes through our servers.
  • Audio: streamed on demand, track by track, directly from your computer to the device you're listening on. We never receive, store, or re-encode your audio files.

Data stored on your device

  • Connection credentials: the agent address and a session token, saved locally so you don't have to pair again each time.
  • A local cache of your library metadata and artwork, kept in the app's cache directory to make browsing fast. It lives only on your device and is never uploaded.
  • Offline downloads: any tracks you choose to download for offline listening are stored on your device and removed when you delete them or uninstall the app.

Account information

To use Rimeo you create an account with your email address and a password (stored only as a salted hash — we never see your plaintext password). We use your email solely to sign you in, link your computers, send essential account and security messages, respond to support requests, and — if you opt in — occasional product updates.

Rimeo offers an optional paid subscription, Rimeo Premium. Purchases made in the iOS app are processed by the App Store — we never see or receive your card details. To turn a purchase into access on your account, we use a subscription-management service (RevenueCat) that receives your Rimeo account identifier and the purchase details from Apple, and tells our server whether your subscription is active. We store your subscription status, its renewal date, the product you bought, and the store's identifier for the subscription. That identifier is also what enforces "one subscription, one account".

Diagnostics

If you choose to send a problem report from inside the app, Rimeo attaches app and agent logs so we can diagnose the issue. These reports are tied to your account and used only for support and to improve reliability. They are never sold and never used for advertising. You decide when to send one — nothing is transmitted automatically.

What the app deliberately does not collect

The Rimeo app contains no advertising SDKs and no analytics or tracking SDKs. It does not collect advertising identifiers, does not track you across other apps or websites, does not build an advertising profile, and does not collect your device location. We don't sell or rent personal data to anyone, ever. The only third-party component in the app is the subscription-management SDK described under Account information, which exists solely to process and verify purchases — it is not used for analytics, tracking, or advertising.

Website analytics

Our website (rimeo.app) uses privacy-friendly analytics to understand traffic in aggregate and improve the site — for example, which pages are visited and where visitors arrive from. We use this only to make Rimeo better; we never use it to build advertising profiles, and we never sell it.

This applies to the website only — the Rimeo app itself contains no analytics and no tracking SDKs. You can limit web analytics at any time by disabling JavaScript in your browser.

Sharing & disclosure

We share personal data only in narrow, necessary cases: with infrastructure providers that operate the service on our behalf (and only to the extent they need it); when required by law or valid legal process; or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and Rimeo. We never sell your data, and we never share your music library — because we don't have it.

Data retention

We keep account data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your account record and associated server-side data are removed. Diagnostic reports are retained only as long as needed to resolve issues and improve reliability. Local data — caches, credentials, and downloads — lives on your own device and is removed when you delete it or uninstall the app.

Your rights & data deletion

You can access, correct, export, or delete your personal data at any time. The fastest path is in the app: open your account settings and choose Delete Account to permanently remove your account and all associated server-side data. To remove local data, delete the app from your device — all local cache and credentials are cleared automatically. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA; to exercise them, reach us through the support form.

Children

Rimeo is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Rimeo evolves. When we make material changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or by email. Continued use of Rimeo after an update means you accept the revised policy.

Personal library use

Rimeo is designed exclusively for personal music libraries. You are solely responsible for ensuring you have the right to access and play any content through the app.
